Wool Gatherings Mission Statement
Wool Gatherings has a two-fold mission:
I love old or vintage or handcrafted items. I especially love folk art in any form. I have always loved fiber - fabrics, blankets, yarns, paper, etc. I am not especially gifted at any particular craft, so I mostly just know what I like when I see it. I know that when ladies come to the shop, they will also find something they like and I want them to find the space and time and freedom to explore the awesome feeling that comes from creating something yourself.
I found this quote in the Introduction of a Country Living publication entitled: Crafting a Business that says it very well:
"Creativity using the imagination to create something new is an innate human trait. It is one that many of us would love to fully develop, but all too often, due to the pressures of life or self-doubt, we put it aside. So meeting those who have overcome obstacles and realized their dream of living a creative life is inspiring because it poses the possibility that we can do the same. "I wish I could do what you do", we say to them. "How on earth do you do it?" (Fitzgerald, Kathie, Crafting a business, Hearst Communications, Inc., 2008, page 5)
So, the way that I can use my creativity is to provide a warm and friendly environment for women to relax and find their creative side, with whatever type of craft they are drawn to. We will strive to help you in any way we can. Just let us know how we can help!!
Secondly, "Wool Gatherings" has been a dream of mine for years. First, it looked like a coffee shop, then it looked like a bookstore, then a yarn store, then an heirloom tomato farm, and now a store for the wool fabric crafts of rug hooking, penny rugs and appliqué, with a little knitting, crochet and sewing thrown in. And whatever else people want to learn to do! The constant in all of my dreams has been the desire to create a place for people to gather and share life - to be in community with each other and to take time out from their over scheduled lives and see how a little downtime can bring renewal. I also plan to run a business based on kindness and integrity, while giving back to my community and trying to honor God.
Peace, Amy
