Knitting two-at-a-time on two circular needles
This technique can be used for knitting gloves, mittens, socks or even two fronts of a garment. In this class, you'll learn the set-up, get started on a project, and understand how to adapt a pattern for two-at-a-time knitting. Call to set up an appointment. Cost is $20 ($30 for socks) plus materials.
Learn Cables and Make a Vest Knit-a-Long
This is a great way to learn how to knit cables, and use this skill in knitting a straight forward vest. There's no reason to shy away from knitting a garment -- it's a knit-a-long so we'll be with you every step of the way. Cost is $20 plus materials. This knit-a-long will meet every Friday beginning Jan 13th and run through February. If you can't make it on Fridays, you can stop by whenever you need assistance. Please call to reserve a spot.
Build Your Skills! This is a new, ongoing techniques class taught by Jari. Over the course of several months, you will build skills, learn unique stitch patterns, and learn to read charts. The goal is to have fun while increasing your confidence and bag of knitting tricks. You can come to any or all of the classes which will be held at 10:00am every other Saturday beginning January 14th. (Jan 14th, Jan 28th, Feb 11th, Feb 25th, etc) Cost is $5 a class. Brings needles and stash yarn.
Week 1: K1P1 - four-row welting, moss stitch, seed stitch and small blocks.
Week 2: Rib-it! - twisted single rib, broken single rib, broken double rib, and tucked ribs
Week 3: Arrange it! - diagonals, squares within squares, seed stitch diamond
Week 4: Style it! - flag pleats, five-point star, broken-rib basketweave
Entrelac
This fun, addictive technique creates a basketweave effect. It's useful for scarves, hat, purses and garments. We'll teach you the basic technique and get you started on a project of your choice. Cost is $20 plus materials. Classes available Thurs, Jan 12th, Wed, Jan 25th, Sat, Feb 4th or Thurs, Feb 23rd at 10:00am, or by appointment.
Fair Isle
This is a traditional method of working with two colors. We'll be featuring Fair Isle projects later this winter, so learn the basics now! You can practice your new skills on a headband, mittens, scarf or purse. Cost is $20 plus materials. Classes available Fri, Feb 3rd at 12:00pm, Sat, Feb 11th at 12:00 pm, Thurs, Feb 16th at 10:00am, or by appointment.
Knitting or Crochet 101
